‘Mississippi’ Gabe Carter

Dave Herrero

Bio

Mississippi Gabe Carter is somewhat of an enigma. He was born in South Bend, Indiana and was raised mostly in backwoods hollers around that region. He has lived most of his adult life in the city of Chicago. Carter was given his first guitar at age five and he taught himself to play on it. He had the fortune of finding a VHS tape which included a few segments of the guitarist and singer Jack Owens; of Bentonia, Mississippi. From that point forward Carter was deeply influenced by Owen’s music. Carter has released a total of 5 albums and has toured extensively through the US, Europe, and South America. His style of blues sounds both modern and like listening to a 200 year old ancient phantom crying out from the forgotten American past.
