Bio
Presented the “Mission Award” in 2016 from the Chicago Leadership Alliance for his outstanding devotion to building community and empowering youth through the Arts, Corey Jenkins is the embodiment of “making a living” with purpose. A Chicago native raised in the Chatham neighborhood, Corey Jenkins is a multidisciplinary Teaching Artist with twenty years of experience. An advocate for community outreach and engagement through arts integration, Corey is best known for teaching youth and young adults how to use technology and mixed media to creatively express themselves through visual and performing arts.
Jenkins is one of the original students of the University of Hip-Hop (UHH). He matriculated through the organization to become their Minister of Infinite Creation (MIC). As the Minister of Infinite Creation, he has excelled as a public arts leader, youth advocate, and mentor for students representing diverse cultural backgrounds. His “Galaxy” themed murals encompass STEAM and STEM based initiatives while featuring an applied and interdisciplinary approach.
From Youth Supervisor to Director of Programming for The Remix Project and now Founder/CEO of Jayinex, Corey continues to expand the depths of his creative outlets as both an Artist and an Educator. Corey has fostered and collaborated on several notable projects and has painted murals for communities in Oakland California, South Bronx, New York, and in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Over the last 20 years Corey has been commissioned to paint murals for organizations and institutions around the world.
