GET TO KNOW OUR COMPOSERS: AMUND MAARUD
Performing since childhood, blues and rock musician Amund Maarud played his first show with family band, MaarudKara, at the age of seven. For the next decade Maarud, along with his father and brother Henrik, played gigs throughout their native Norway. The family band made their debut on Norwegian television in 1997 before releasing their first album, First Blues, in 1999.
By the start of the new millennium, Maarud went solo with Henrik still on drums. Their 2003 album, Ripped, Stripped, and Southern Fried, earned them a Norwegian Grammy nomination.
As an active member of the Norwegian rock scene for the last two decades, Maarud has recorded and toured with The Grand, a ‘60’s psych rock band Maarud himself put together with the members of his previous band, A.M. Band. For his work, Maarud has received a Norwegian Grammy in 2011, the Edvard Grieg Composer Award in 2016, the Blues Award at Notodden Blues festival in 2016, and received the Blues Walk of Fame in Notodden, Norway, in 2018.
Maarud is currently working on his second project with the Americana group, Lucky Lips. The first single off the album, Wolves, is available now on Spotify. You can also find a playlist of projects Maarud has been involved with over the years on Spotify as well.
